PFMA Instructors


PFMA instructors are held to the highest standards found anywhere. There are a number of steps to be a PFMA instructor with our schools, some of those are listed below. Along with the steps listed below each level will require a special project given to you by PFMA Head Quarters.

Assistant Instructor 

  1. This level and training is started around 1st Kyu or 1st Dan depending on the person.
  2. During this time all instructors are supervised full time.
  3. A non-certified instructor can not run a class or program without a certified instructor on the floor. 

Certified Instructor

  1. You must be ranked as 1st Dan or higher in a recognized system.
  2. You must have 156 of supervised instructor time in your first year.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer programs per year.
  4. You must receive 5 units of academic training in fitness.
  5. You must receive 5 units of academic training in anatomy.
  6. You must receive 5 units of academic training in Martial Arts history.
  7. You must earn a Personal Trainer Certification.

Certified Senior Instructor

  1. You must be ranked at 2nd Dan or higher.
  2. You must have an additional 20 supervised hours teaching an advanced class.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer events per year.
  4. You must take part on a testing board 3 times per year.
  5. You must sit on one Black Belt test per year.
  6. You must continue academic training.
  7. You must earn Advanced Personal Trainer Certification.

Certified Head Instructor

  1. You must be ranked 3rd Dan or Higher.
  2. You must have 20 supervised hours teaching Black Belt class.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer events per year.
  4. You must take part on a testing board 3 times per year.
  5. You must be supervised running a Black Belt test.
  6. You must continue academic training.

Certified Examiner / Jr. Master

  1. You must be ranked 4th Dan or Higher.
  2. You must have 20 supervised hours teaching tournament training classes.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer events per year.
  4. You must take part on a testing board 3 times per year.
  5. You must promote one 1st Dan.
  6. You must continue academic training.
  7. You must earn "Martial Arts Conditioning Coach" & "Self-defense Instructor" certifications

Certified Master Instructor

  1. You must be ranked 5th Dan or Higher.
  2. You must have 20 hours teaching seminars or clinics.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer events per year.
  4. You must take part on a testing board 3 times per year.
  5. You must sit on one masters testing panel. (4th or 5th Dan Test)
  6. You must continue academic training.
  7. You must earn a Master Personal Trainer Certification & Sports Nutrition Certification

Certified Senior Examiner

  1. You must be ranked 6th Dan or Higher.
  2. You must have 50 hours teaching seminars or clinics.
  3. You must take part in 2 volunteer events per year.
  4. You must take part on a testing board 3 times per year.
  5. You must sit on two masters testing panel. (4th or 5th Dan Test)
  6. You must have completed the PFMA academic training or earned a BS from American Sports University.
  7. You must earn "Health Club / Dojo Manager" certification.
